Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, Episode 6 Review

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, Episode 6 Review

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is back with another thrilling episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc. In episode 6, titled "Aren't You Going to Become a Hashira?", we witness some intense battles, shocking revelations, and emotional flashbacks. Let's dive into the highlights of this episode and see how our heroes fare against the Upper Rank demons.

Genya's Transformation and Backstory

One of the most surprising moments of this episode was Genya's transformation into a half-demon after eating a piece of Hantengu's flesh. Genya reveals that he has the ability to absorb the powers of the demons he consumes, which explains his enhanced strength and regeneration. However, this also comes with a price: he loses his humanity and becomes more aggressive and bloodthirsty.

We also get to see Genya's tragic backstory and his relationship with his older brother Sanemi, the Wind Hashira. Genya was one of seven children in a poor family. Their father was abusive and their mother was killed by a demon. Sanemi became a Demon Slayer and left Genya behind, telling him to never follow him. Genya, however, was determined to become a Hashira like his brother and joined the Demon Slayer Corps despite having no talent for swordsmanship or breathing techniques.

Genya's motivation for becoming a Hashira is not only to prove himself to Sanemi, but also to avenge his mother and protect his remaining siblings. He is willing to risk his life and soul for this goal, even if it means becoming a demon himself.

Tanjiro and Nezuko's Teamwork

Another highlight of this episode was Tanjiro and Nezuko's teamwork against Hantengu's Emotion Demons. Tanjiro uses his Hinokami Kagura to fight off the four clones, while Nezuko uses her blood demon art to ignite Tanjiro's sword with flames. This combination proves to be effective against the demons, as they are vulnerable to fire.

Tanjiro also shows his compassion and empathy for Genya, who is struggling to kill the fifth clone, a tiny mouse-like demon that is immune to his attacks. Tanjiro encourages Genya and tells him that he and Nezuko support his dream of becoming a Hashira. Tanjiro's kindness touches Genya's heart and gives him the courage to continue fighting.

Tokito's Memory and Fight

Meanwhile, Tokito, the Mist Hashira, is trapped inside Gyokko's water vessel. The Upper Rank demon mocks Tokito for being weak and helpless. However, Tokito remains calm and composed, as he tries to recall his lost memories.

We learn that Tokito was once a happy child who lived with his twin brother in a peaceful village. One day, their village was attacked by demons and they were separated. Tokito managed to escape with the help of an old man who trained him as a Demon Slayer. However, Tokito lost his memory of his brother and his past due to the trauma.

Tokito realizes that he has been fighting for his brother all along, and that he has a strong bond with him that transcends time and space. He also remembers that he has a special breathing technique that allows him to manipulate mist. With this newfound power, he breaks free from Gyokko's water vessel and slashes him with his sword.
